KOREAN NATIONAL POSITION
CIVILIAN PERSONNEL OFFICE OSAN AIR BASE
ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER: OAB-004-17 OPENING DATE: 22 Feb 17

POSITION TITLE & GRADE: Cook, Junior, KWB-7404-03
SALARY: Between 12257 – 17413 won per hour (Total hourly compensation when quarterly bonuses are included)
DUTY LOCATION: 51st Force Support Sq., Food Operations Section, Osan AB
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All current employees assigned with United States Air Forces, Korea (USAFK).
(Priority Group 5)
NOTE: Newly hired NAF employees are required to serve no less than one year in the position to which they are initially hired before they can voluntarily accept any other position unless approved by management. Relocation allowance is not authorized for USFK employees selected from outside the commuting area.
MAJOR DUTIES: Prepares vegetables and fruits for general cooking, salads and desserts using machines or manual methods. Packs box meals following a set procedure and supervisor’s directions, adhering to proper sanitation principles at all times, and insuring that older meals are issued before new meals. Reviews menus, work sheets and recipes and prepares type and quantities of items required for member of persons to be served and recipe requirements. Cuts and trims to cooking size/weight or measures portions and ingredients for regular or modifies diets in accordance with menus, recipes or other instructions. Prepares fruits and vegetables by cleaning peeling and/or cutting. Cooks meat fish, fruits or vegetables by roasting, broiling, baking, frying, boiling, steaming or braising. Operates various mixers, grinders, steam kettles, electric urns and other powered and mechanical kitchen/serving line equipment used in the preparation and service of food. Attend food counters by setting up/replenishing designated areas including; condiments, entrees, salads, desserts and cold beverages. Serves food in standard portions by placing uniform amounts of food on serving dishes. Performs a variety of duties incident to the maintenance and cleanliness of the area to which assigned. Cleans serving line, washes floors, washes walls, disposes of trash and garbage. Performs other duties as assigned.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: Work requires some exposure to soiling of hands by cooking oils/grease. Subject to splashing of water, noise of equipment, cold of refrigerators and heat of ovens.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: One year of general experience.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Actual work experience as a trainee, helper, or other work related to the trade or craft for which being considered.
SUBSTITUTION:
The following may be substituted for the 1 year of general experience required at any level:
a. Graduation from high school in a field related to the job for which being considered.
b. Successful completion of a formal training course in a recognized trade school, of at least 90 days duration, in the trade or craft of the job for which being considered.
c. Possession of a valid license or certificate of competency issued by the ROKG attesting to proficiency as craftsman in the trade or craft of the job for which being considered.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMPETENCY: The American Language Course Placement Test (ALCPT) score of 34 or above and successfully passing the English Comprehension Interview (ECI) is required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY (KSA’s): To be rated best qualified applicants must have demonstrated possession of the following KSA’s essential to the performance of the duties of the positions:

Knowledge of assisting cooks as required in the preparation and serving food.
Knowledge of cooking ingredients
