SALARY: Between 15684 - 22478 won per hour (Total hourly compensation when quarterly bonuses are included)
DUTY LOCATION: 51st Maintenance Group, Office of Commander, Osan AB.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All current USFK employees (Priority Group 5). All registrants on the area reemployment priority list (ARPL) (Priority Group 6). Family members of US military and civilian employees of an agency of the United States whose duty station located in Korea (Priority Group 7). Outside Korean National Applicant (Priority Group 8 & 9).
NOTE: Newly hired NAF employees are required to serve no less than one year in the position to which they are initially hired before they can voluntarily accept any other position unless approved by the management.
MAJOR DUTIES: Performs a variety of general office, administrative, clerical, executive duties in support of the maintenance Group Commander and Deputy Commander. Receives calls, greets visitors, and determines and nature of the call or business of the visitor. Independently ascertains those calls or visitors which should be referred to the commander, executive officer, other staff personnel, or which can be handled personally. Position required the ability to respond to nontechnical requests which can be provided based on an extensive knowledge of the organizational structure, the commander’s responsibilities, priorities, commitments, policies, and goals, or from records and files. Places DSN, local, and commercial long distance calls through the Korean Telephone Exchange Systems, for both supervisor and staff personnel. Receives all incoming correspondences, publications, regulations, and directives for the commander. Determines which correspondence should be brought to the supervisor’s attention, forwarded directly to staff personnel for action, or can be handled personally. Reviews all outgoing decoration, performance reports, correspondences, and other documents. Ensures material is presented in compliance with suspense, current procedures, and policies. Also, required to ensure correspondence is in proper format, grammar and typographical accuracy are within tolerance, and all appropriate supporting documents are attached. Routinely prepares for Maintenance Group Commander personal and executive correspondence with Seventh Air Force and Group Staff, of a nontechnical nature in the supervisor’s name or own name. Arranges conference and meetings; ensures meeting rooms are reserved in a timely manner, and notifies all participants of the time, place, and proposed agenda items. Maintains supervisor’s calendar and determines priorities at own discretion; schedules, reschedules, or rejects appointments; accepts or declines invitations to meetings, and arranges for attendance by staff members as appropriate. Develops office procedures to ensure effective and efficient operations with regard to administrative and clerical duties. Receives requites for statistical or information material concerning the maintenance group programs. Researches, assembles, and summarizes the information, as required from files, databases, and documents in responses to these requests. Prepares travel orders and trip itineraries; coordinates all travel, personal transportation requirements. And billeting arrangements in timely manner. Translate commander’s letter to Republic of Korea (ROK) Air Force and Army commanders and Korean dignitaries into Hangul or translates correspondence in Korean into English for the commander. Act as liaison between ROK Air Force and Army commanders, Korean civilian officials, Honorary commanders, Good Neighbors and maintenance group commander. Schedules meeting, social gathering and other functions as required. Translates for the 51st Maintenance Group commander for visiting Korean dignitaries and commercial representatives. Protocol advisor to 51st Maintenance Group commander to ensure proper actions and responses are met in all dealings with Korean officials. A qualified typist with knowledge, skills, and ability to operate a personal computer is required, including familiarity with Microsoft tools (Word, Schedule, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
EXPEREINCE:
One (1) year of specialized experience at grade level of KGS-04 or equivalent. A minimum typing speed of 30 words (English/150 strokes) per minute is required. ROK Word Processing Certificates for English may be substituted for the self-certification of keyboard operation skills.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be credited, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower grade level.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Successfully completed education of four years above the high school level in a ROKG authorized or recognized university may be substituted for the experience required at grade KGS-05 level.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMPETENCY: 1. The American Language Course Placement Test (ALCPT) score of 60 or above and successfully passing the English Comprehension Interview (ECI) is required.
2. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 430 and higher the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) score of 450 and higher may be substituted for ALCPT requirement. Applicant must submit the TOEFL/TOEIC official copies of test score. TOEFL and TOEIC scores are valid for two years from the exam date.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY (KSA’s): To be rated best qualified applicants must have demonstrated possession of the following KSA’s essential to the performance of the duties of the positions:
a. Knowledge of the organization structure, priorities, commitments, policies, and goals or from records and files.
b. Ability to operate personal computer system including familiarity with MS tools.
c. Ability to translate the letter to ROK Air Force and Army commanders and Korean dignitaries into Hangul or translates correspondence in Korean into English.
d. Ability communicates effectively orally and in writing.
