KOREAN NATIONAL POSITION
CIVILIAN PERSONNEL FLIGHT OSAN AIR BASE
ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER: OAB-065-25

POSITION TITLE & GRADE: Electronics Mechanic, KWB-2604-07
SALARY: Between 20167 – 28945 won per hour (Total hourly compensation when bonuses are included)
DUTY LOCATION: 51st Civil Engineer Squadron, Operations Flight, Electrical Systems, Osan AB.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All current USFK employees (Priority Group 5). All registrants on the area reemployment priority list (ARPL) (Priority Group 6). Family members of US military and civilian employees of an agency of the United States whose duty station located in Korea (Priority Group 7). Outside Korean National Applicant (Priority Group 8 & 9).
NOTE: 1. USFK NAF employees newly hired on or after 1 Jul 2004 will be required to serve no less than one year in the position to which they are initially hired before they can voluntarily accept any other position. However, they may be allowed to move to other NAF positions within their employing command/activity.
2. Relocation allowance is not authorized for USFK employees selected from outside the commuting area.
3. The 1st cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be 19 Aug 25. Applications received after the 1st cut-off date will not be referred to once the position has been filled
MAJOR DUTIES: Performs work involved in installation, maintenance repair (removes, repairs, replaces system component parts) and troubleshooting (analyzes and isolate system malfunctions) of electrical systems, electronic control systems and components. This includes fire detection systems and control circuits for fire suppression systems. Install conduit, control circuits, electronic and pneumatic sensing and switching devices designed to detect fire alarm conditions. Installs smoke/heat/duct detectors, pull stations, electronic batter chargers; zone annunciator, fire alarm controls and supervisory fire alarm panels designed to detect fire alarm conditions. Installs electrical source, control circuits, electronic low voltage relays and electronic/signal transmitting antennas. Maintain, troubleshoot, repair/replace component modules and test system operations. Ensure system is installed and operational in compliance with National fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70: National Electric Code and NFPA 72: National Fire Alarm And signaling Code standards. Also ensure additional compliance to manufacture specs, technical orders and Air Force directive, whether from Pacific Air Force (PACAF) or Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC). Follows maintenance schedules or ensures changes with the schedule are coordinated with Customer Service personnel. Inspects and verifies correct installation/operations of fire alarm system contractor modifications/projects. Completes job/work orders and performs maintenance repairs on installed systems and controls for proper operation and maximum efficiency. Services, calibrates, maintains, and adjusts relays and switches, time delay, overload, magnetic type automatic control devices. Performs acceptance test on fire detection systems installed by contractor personnel ensuring compliance with technical orders, manufactures handbooks, schematics, and as-built drawings. Determines operational conditions and reports the results of the test performed to the Alarms Section Lead or the Electrical Systems NCOIC. Assists Alarms Section Lead or the Engineering Flight in performing surveys, including recording wait-hour meter readings on cost reimbursable facilities, training of inexperienced personnel (military & civilian) by providing on-the-job training/instruction and as assistance as needed. Installs, maintains and repairs electric wiring systems, related switches, distribution panel and outlet boxes, as well as a wide variety of electrical fixtures, tools and appliances. Following maintenance schedules and inspections or job-work orders, maintenance services, diagnose system or equipment malfunctions and repairs as necessary. Inspects, maintains, cleans, repair, tests and adjusts electrical drills, grinders and shop equipment to maximize the safe operation and life of portable tools. Test circuits and equipment by using multimeter (voltmeter, ampmeter, ohmmeter). Installs conduits, inserting, splicing, and connecting wires to fire alarm system devices to power sources (if applicable). Performs other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside of facilities, hazardous/nonhazardous locations, noisy environments, subject to extremes of weather conditions (variable temperatures while working in cold storage areas, mechanical rooms/attics). Subject to contact with dirt and soiling of hands and clothing. Subject to possible injuries such as hearing loss cuts, bruises, burns and electrical shock. Requires physical efforts, such as climbing on ladders, scaffolding and platforms, in addition to prolonged standing, bending and working in cramped areas.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
EXPERIENCE: One year of general experience plus one year of specialized experience
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Actual work experience as a trainee, helper, or other work related to the trade or craft for which being considered.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience at the "Junior" or higher level, in work related to trade or craft for which being considered.
SUBSTITUTION:
1. Graduation from high school in a field related to the job for which being considered, successful completion of a formal training course (at least 90 days duration) in a recognized trade school in the trade or craft of the job for which being considered, or possession of a valid license or certificate of competency issued by the ROKG attesting to proficiency as craftsman in the trade or craft of the job for which being considered may be substituted for 1 year of general experience.
2. Graduation from technical junior college in a field related to the job for which being considered or possession of license or certificate of competency issued by the ROKG attesting to proficiency as an industrial engineer in the trade or craft of the job for which being considered may be substituted for 1 year of general and 1 year of specialized experience required.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMPETENCY: The American Language Course Placement Test (ALCPT) score of 40 or above and successfully passing the English Comprehension Interview (ECI) is required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY (KSA’s): To be rated best qualified applicants must have demonstrated possession of the following KSA’s essential to the performance of the duties of the positions:
a. Knowledge of installation conduit, control circuits, electronic sensing and switching devices designed to detect fire alarm conditions.
b. Ability to service and maintains fire alarm transceiver equipment.
c. Ability to perform acceptance testing of fire detection systems installed by contractor personnel ensuring compliance with technical orders, manufactures handbooks, schematics, and as –built drawings.
d. Ability to use a variety of hand tools in accomplishing assignments.
